AMD chipset AGP driver problem

Hi,

just wondering if anyone has come across this problem, my system has:

Gigabyte KG7 m/b with AMD 761 chipset
Geforce 4 440MX graphics card
Windows 2000

I tend to use the 'Top Performance' settings in the BIOS, but I recently installed the AGP miniport driver for the above chipset (tried both versions from the AMD and the Gigabyte websites), and when I rebooted, as soon as the desktop was about to display the monitor goes blank (I assume this is when the driver is loaded). The only way I found to get my monitor to work in Windows was to disable to 'Top Performance' option.

I have since reinstalled Windows (without the AGP driver), but was just wondering if anyone has experienced this problem, and if they found a solution.

Thanks

Andrew

p.s. if anyone can enlighten me on the advantage of installing the AGP driver, that would be much appreciated too!

Apparently, your "Top Performance" setting is actually over the top. You know your answer - leave it off.
