Abit BH6 1.1 won't post with new wireless card

Recently upgraded from an SMC 2602w wireless card that only supported 802.11b to a Netgear WG311 54G card.

Upgrade the router also. Got all my other PCs and my laptop working on the router.

I've spent WAY too many hours trying to get this old dog online.

The SMC card worked fine with the old router. It won't talk to the new router.. Spent a long time with SMC on the phone. They can't get it to work. Called Netgear and since router is working with other devices, they won't help much.

I'd really like to get the Netgear card working but when I install the card and turn on the PC it won't even post. Netgear said the card is 32bit PCI. He thinks my mobo only supports 16bit PCI cards.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? If it's true, any hint on getting the SMC card to work with the new router?

Abit BH6 v1.1 mobo. upgraded to latest bios.
Hardware:
5GB HD
Zip Drive
CD Drive
AGP Video
320MB ram (256 + 64)

Running XP pro

I see that the PCI car says it needs a PCI 2.2 slot....I am almost certain the abit board is not "2.2".....I am not sure of the differences though...but I have seen that with other types of cards etc.

Although the tech was wrong as far as I know..PCI is 32 bit anyway you slice it....ISA is 16 bit.

---

I saw these requirements for the wireless card----> Pentium III class PC with an available PCI 2.2 compliant slot, 20 Mb of free hard drive space, Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, or XP
