I've built three, and I haven't been totally happy about any of the cases. The one I've liked best so far was an Enlight; it was toolless (with thumbscrews), steel, had a removable enclosure for the 3.5" drives. But it didn't have a removable tray for the motherboard or front USB ports.
I'd like to buy one for a computer to replace a Gateway Slot Athlon 600 that just died.
Is there any reason to buy (or not to buy) a server-type case such as
this one? Any problem with having removable media behind a door?
The drives I'm going to use (Zip 250, floppy, DVD-RW) are all beige. Is there an esthetic way to make them black (I've heard of "vinyl dye" but haven't seen it on offer)? Or do I have to stick with a beige box?
How useful do you find a removable tray for the motherboard?
I'm not interested in modding the box, and I don't need to have windows (it's just going under my desk, after all) but I'd like it not to be
too ugly. Oh, and I'd like to keep the price under $100, including shipping and a power-supply that's at least 350W.
Suggestions?
