plug and play ISA device?

hi there again,

evening... i got an old pc when switched on displayed something like "Plug and Play ISA device" i quite forgotten the words but sounds almost so. the machine stopped running at there. i reset, go into safe mode and shut down. either the same error occurs or the machine stopped running at the Window 98 logo screen.
i got the machine not swichted on more than 1 month ago but less then 3 months. is the error has something to do with software, hardisk or some cables i plugged not properly to the cpu?

thanks

PnP ISA is the last thing those old machines do before probing for IDE disk drives. Sounds like your HDD has gone fishing. Open the case and listen whether it spins up.

oh... i dare not open the case. by the way i was hoping to get the pc use for broadband internet only 32mb ram, window 98, 2.8 GB, speed i think is 155mhz somewhere 100mhz. i am not fond of electrical life things but i do listen from outside that there is rough whirling sounds compared to the current pc. mmm... is it good just change the pc by buying a new one for broadband?

thanks

There is no electricity inside a computer case that will bite you...unless you dig into the power supply, while it is plugged into a wall socket. The power supply is in another small case. The most voltage you could get into inside the main case is 5 or 12 volts DC..both of which you cannot even feel.

If you are not comfortable with removing the case cover and poking around inside or listening to fans and hard drive motor noise.. you may just want to buy your computers instead and find a computer shop somewhere near you to go into it when needed.

Sounds like it would be more like wading the internet even on broadband,a new computer would be best. You can always use that one for a boat anchor

Like Bovon says there isn't any voltage worries, check all the plugs inside, and make sure they're all plugged in good.
