Wireless networking Woes

I just moved to a new place and had to set up a wireless network. The card I got came with software I believe its an Exterras or something to that effect but for some reason the signal strength from one end of the house to the other is kinda low. So the windows wi-fi connecting wizard will connect to it then drop the connection then connect then drop however the built in networking program that came with the card will keep the connection. So my question is... How can I shut down the windows automatic network finder and use the one that came with the card? I tried disabling wireless zero config but that didn't seem to do anything.
thanks

I have had some problems with network too recently...you can read the Gigabyte motherboard post for some additional details...

If you are only using the wireless for internet access...you may be able to uninstall some of the network protocols...particularly if you have alternatives that came with the hardware.

I had to get rid of Client for Windows Networks...in order to restore the computer to full functionality (CD etc)

So, uninstalling protocol one at a time and testing might help.

Great........you guys are filling me with heaps of confidence about even cracking open the boxes on my new D-Link di624 and WGL-520 setup......LOL!!!

Maybe I should just put 'em back in the bag & walk 'em right back to the store & forget the purchase ever happened!
