Wireless and a laptop

I've had my laptop for quite some time now and have always been wondering if my wireless is working properly. The first time I started it I had no problem. Then when I went from a wireless to a wired network I couldn't just plug in the cable I had to run the whole network setup wizard(windows XP) and then it created a network bridge. To then use the wireless again I had to delete the bridge. This doesn't seem right at all. And now it has created something called network brdige 8, the 8th one, and I cannot delete it. Every time I try it says there was an error configuring my bridge. Anyone know how I get rid of it?

if you right click on one of the bridge components and click "unbridge" then try to delete them, does it work?
