SpywareBlaster

I just have to mention this extremely great program for you guys. This software simply rocks. If you are tired of spyware, and want to have like a sort of firewall against it, SpywareBlaster is for you. SpywareBlaster does not delete spyware, or scan your computer to find spyware like Spybot or Ad-Aware does, it prevents your computer for being infected. Its freeware, and its definitely a keeper. The new version of it was released a few days ago, version 3.0. Now it has a much better interface, and great appearance (Windows XP look in it) and a more simple way to use it. If you don't have it yet, get it here. I am sure you will be amazed by it. I haven't had any spyware at all since I installed it, even no tracking cookies that I always got, even with Ad-Aware and Spybot. Everyday I had to use both to get rid of all those malicious cookies, but now I don't. Make sure to download all the updates available for it. Also (forgot to mention) it protects even Mozilla and Firefox from malicious spyware, just as it does with Internet Explorer. A great feature for Mozilla/Firefox users like me. It also blocks a huge number of malicious sites (of course if you want it to) to prevent you from getting spyware, and entering malicious sites. To conclude, its really small, and takes almost nothing from you hard drive. Its not a resource hog, and it doesn't affect the computers performance. Get it, just get this program, because I can guarantee you you wont regret it.

I have to agree. I used it (when I had net access at home) but it blocks every peice of spyware you can get.
I am trying to get it at school to keep these PCs safe.

And best of all, its freeware.
That gives the possibility for more people to secure their computers from spyware.

Thanks, Dan. Nice to know. I'd rather prevent spyware from infecting my computer rather than removing it afterwards.

You're Welcome
Use both a scanner (ex. Spybot or Ad-Aware, or both) and a software that prevent spyware (like SpywareBlaster) and your computer will be without spyware for a while. Spybot has a preventer in it, but its too weak, and Ad-Aware only has one in the Pro version, which is not freeware. I even prefer SpywareBlaster than Ad-Awares preventer. Pest Patrol is the best scanner/preventer IMO though, unfortunately its not free, and its not cheap.

Wouldn't it be the same though if you just set your privacy settings in IE6 to HIGH. Isn't that what Spyblaster does anyways, if not what does it do differently?

Thanks.

If you set the settings at HIGH in Internet explorer your surfing will be extremely limited. Why? Because it would block all the cookies without asking, its would block ActiveX, and much more that sometimes is necessary. It also doesn't prevent from getting spyware. Its extremely easy to get spyware with IE, specially if your surfing habits aren't the best. What SpywareBlaster does is prevent you from getting malicious spyware. It can also block malicious sites. You cant compare it with setting IE's security settings to HIGH, because its totally different.

DanGrease,

Try AnalogX's CookieWall. It's freeware and enables IE6 to automatically kill cookies. Just highlight the ones you don't want and click the <<< button and they'll never bother you again and you're sailing away...no more bad cookies. hehe...mine currently KILLS 7583 cookies. Nah. I don't surf much. ; )
