2wire Wireless Problems

I have a 2Wire gateway. I'm trying to network 2 desktops, both Win2k. One is wired to gateway via cable. The other via wireless card.

The cabled one works fine but the wireless card won't work. It keeps saying "Can't renew IP" when I try to make a connection. I'm lost as I have have replaced both the wireless card and gateway?

Signal strength is great. The card can see the network name, channel and base station name.

Have you got WEP turned on in the gateway? If your router is using WEP encryption, you'll have to activate it for the wireless connection on the computer and make sure the key is entered.

Out of fustration I have disabled WEP at the gateway and card, figured that would elimate any confusion there.

And it's still not letting you renew your IP?

Systems

Nope. Not sure how familar you are with 2Wire but when I start what they call their wireless client, it doesn't see the network in a scan but if I manually put the network name in it then see's the channel (I can change it and it see's the change.) At the end of the process it says "connected to 2Wire NetworkXXX" and then comes up with "renewing of IP failed". I'm at my wits end.

I have tried this on 3 different computers, all using Win2K. Service pack 4 installed with all updates. Being that I have replaced both the card and gateway I'm lost.
