problems with halo and direct 3d

just today i tried playing Halo - it had been working fine yesterday - and when i get past the "advertisements" to the main menu today, the main menu was white/gray. you cant see anything but you can hear the music playing. also the up down keys produce the selection sound.

i have a pny geforce fx 5200 128MB (OCed from 250-400 to 281-449) video card and have the detonator drivers 5.6.5.6. also have an AMD 2500+ (OCed from ~1800Mhz to ~2000Mhz) and 256Megs of corsair ram.

i also opened up dxdiag to run the directdraw and direct3d tests. the direct3d tests didnt work... as you can see from the attached picture the texture was not there, and the DX logo was spinning as it seemed, 50X faster than it should have.

any thoughts? i'm going to reseat the vid card and see if that works, first though i'm going to set the core/memory speed on the video card to default then try.

well obviously the game is fine, it's just the direct3d, of course!

9b, and yesterday i fixed the problem. what i did was google around for it and found another thread exactly related to my problem. what i did was uninstall, then reinstall the drivers for the video card. the most current ones from www.pny.com

works fine now... must've been something the registry cleaner program deleted.
