How to use Norton Ghost

I have Norton Ghost but have never used it.

I want to copy a complete drive over to another drive but am not sure how to do this. The original drive has XP on it but the drive is buggered and will not boot properly. I think I will be at least able to extract the data from it though.
The new drive will be formatted but have no OS on it. Is there a way I can copy the old drive to the new drive even though I cannot boot up the computer ? Can I install Ghost on another computer and then make boot discs or something like this, to use on the other computer?

Here is a site that may be some help as well. I use Ghost 2002 which works from DOS. I understand that Ghost 2003 (and later??) works from within Windows.

I like the 2002 version personally..its simple and easy to do.

Most of the drive utilities provided by HD manufacturers will do what you are wanting. Programs like Maxtor's Maxblast and others. Go to the advanced part of the menu and select copy entire partition. Very simple to use.

Not sure how you think this is going to work..
I use the Enterprise version at work and you need a working computer from which you create an image first.
If your HD is buggered, you're not going to be able to image it.

Once you have created your image, you store it somewhere, on a server in my case but equally on a spare HD or CD/DVD etc.
Using a ghost boot floppy you can then read the image as long as it is in a locatable location, such as on a network share and you have the correct network drivers on your floppy or on a CD/DVD and you have the correct *-rom drivers on the floppy or from another hard drive that the floppy has to be able to actually "see".
The image (I use both Xp and 2k images) is then written to your choice of location which again the floppy has to be able to see.

Not sure why you would want to make a ghost image of a buggered drive tho..
