Having Monitor problems

It's a Gateway Ev700, Pictures on the web and such appear very dark. I have the monitor brightness and contrast cranked up to the maximum but it doesn't do anything. Everything aside from pictures (JPEGs and such) look as they should. Funny thing is, when I print screens out on paper, they look great.

For example.

^If I hadn't printed this pic out, I won't even be able to tell that there's a car there. how does the pic look on your monitor?

Same here, just about all these pics look way darker than they should, and others that I talk to on message board seem to be able to see them very clearly.

so is it a monitor issue, or something completely different.

Looks good to me. A red vehicle with a darker stripe thru the front where the headlights would normally be.

Looks good to me. I suspect you have a dying monitor or the contrast settings are not adjusted correctly.

How old is your monitor?

Is it positioned in such a way that it gets a lot of sun light?

Hope for the best, but I have had to replace monitors before, and will have to again. They wear out...

I wouldn't know hat would be up if its just pictures that don't display right.... I wouldn't think it was a dying monitor, but it may very well be. I'll rummage around for you, and see what I can find.

I had a similar problem with my older monitor, just before it went totally black... sorry... what is funny is I didn't even notice my monitor was dying until I bought a bigger one... so I used the old one on an older computer then one day it just went black.

yeah..when you print the screens out it has nothing to do with the monitor quality....as a matter of fact..I am pretty sure you could print out screens with no monitor at all, lol

Yeah I know that, but it just shows how the screens are supposed to look and how bad my monitor really is.

I guess I'll be getting a new monitor one of these days then, thanks all.

Oh, by the way, could it possibly have anything to do with whatever hz (60hz, 75hz) my monitor is running? I think it says it's running at like 46.8kHz/ 75Hz. I know that on Tv's that has something to do with the display but I've never studied into it before, to lazy I guess.
