Burns on cd rw but not on cd r

I've tried to burn an audio cd with nero and with cd creator 5, but neither one works. When I click burn or record I get this message saying......
Sorry, your compilation cannot be written on this kind of disc. Please insert a disc of the correct type or modify the settings of your compilation settings to make it compatible with the current disc or please insert a blank cd.
The same thing happens when burning a data cd.
I've tried different brand of cd's expensive ones cheaper ones but its always the same thing. The weird thing is that if I use a cd rw it will work no problem.

Any idea what the problem could be?

I'm using a Mat****a CW-7585 (4 yeard old)

What version of Nero are you using? (5)?

Is it a registered version?

Did it come with a bundled sale of a CD-RW of a particular make/model? if so, please specify make and model the burner was when you bought it and it was bundled with some version of Nero.

Just that one brand cdr? OR any? I had my sony cdr-w quit burning once just like that. Same type error. I resorted to reinstalling OS after about 4 days fo fighting through it. I tried everything from ASAPI layer to you name it. Notta. reinstalled XP-bam back in action burning anything I toss at it. No idea what happend. Just that fixed it. Win XP with SP1........

Try burning the disk without multisession support (if you aren't already).
