Emails are being sent, recipients not receiving

Here is the issue:

I have a few users sending out email to internal and external addresses. All of the emails show sent however some are not being received by the recipients.

The users never get a non-deliverable message and I have confirmed that the address they are sending to all correct. I can send an email to one user internally and they get it, reply and I will never see it. Then they send another one and I will get the new one. It seems hit and miss. I can even have them send an email to themselves and they sometimes do not get them.

Could it be the client application? Outlook XP is being used on all of the workstations. I am testing them right now using the webmail interface to see if the emails are getting sent out and received without problems.

If anyone has ideas, please post!!

Not sure if this could be relevant, ive noticed alot of mail goes into the bulk/spam/nuisance folders Earthlink, AOL, Hotmail, Yahoomail etc have implemented by "mistake" and most people dont scan these folders before emptying them...

That is a good call and I will check that for the hotmail tests we have done. The thing is though that the emails sent internally are not getting received at times, and I have checked the spam filters. We can send email to individuals and also using a dist list and none will get it.

Now a few more people are having this issue, I thought it may have been a client issue since webmail seemed to be working fine but now one is sending email through it, same deal, goes out but no one is receiving......

No undeliverable messages.....

So should I stop and start the services on Exchange?? Reboot server....??

Well, I finally figured out the issue, but thanks anyway

The mailboxes were corrupted so I saved the data, deleted them and recreated. All of them worked fine, UNTIL two of them turned on the delay rule to delay mail in the outbox for one minute. After that, they could not send out emails successfully. Again no errors but nothing getting received. So turned off the delay and back in business.
