system resources - Win98 hidden area
I agree with what has been said above: 60% is a sign that there are programs running that should not be and so on and so forth...
More memory increases performance in some areas, but System Resources, to my knowledge is a measurement comprising about three items; one of which includes 16-bit type stuff of which there is a limit.
I think that once you have exhausted that resource the computer will start to freeze up and it Win98 will say System is Dangerously Low of Resources Close Programs to Free Up Memory
or something like that ...
It is, to my knowledge a limitation of Win98...
When your computer is down to 20, 40 and 60 you will most likely need to take steps to reinstall Windows.
At least close down programs using Msconfig..but be aware that often the only way to solve the problem elegantly is to reinstall.
