AMD Barton 333Mhz 2800 XP CPU Multiplier?

What is the FSB speed and multiplier speed suppose to be set on for this CPU? I have an A7N8X-E Asus Mobo.

Hey. Looks great. But how about the motherboards FSB speed in bios? They have settings for 100Mhz, 133Mhz, 166Mhz, 200Mhz, ...etc. Do I put that on 333Mhz?

Barton 2800+

Barton Processors ship with increased Level 2 Cache making them faster etc

To set the FSB you need to know what the Memory Clock Speed is and also what the CPU is clocked at.

2800 Barton = 2083 MHz

I assume the motherboard supports 333........

in that case divide 2083 by 333 = 6.3

So you should be looking at setting the multiplier to 6.5

That will give you approximately the right speed.

Look at the jumper settings page of your Mobo manual and that will tell you how to set the multiplier.

You are supposed to divide 2083 by 166 (166x2 = 333) and get 12.5. Which is what you will see on the site Omardeth gave.

Thanks. 12.5 x 166Mhz seem to fix it. I appreciate the help.

So you usually just split the FSB of the CPU in half and multiply that # by a multiplier (in this case it was 12.5) to get a Mhz rating near the CPUs standard capabilty?

To add on to my other question above, If I wanted to overclock the CPU. I would just raise the multiplier, not the FSB right?

yeah...stand corrected

missed that crucial step...

Always divide by the base speed...

thanks
