Partitioning hard drives

Hi, I am relatively new to computers, but I am taking a specialized computer class called, "Concepts of PC Hardware." We are talking about partitioning hard drives right now and I was wondering... what comman would I type to place files on a new C: partition that will make it bootable?

Thanks!

Nancy P.

format c: /s
this is called the "system" command, it installs the 3 system files needed to boot
command.com
io.sys
msdos.sys

welcome to techimo!

for fat32 system, you will have to use format.com (A:\format c: /s)command or the sys.com (to just make the formatted drive bootable)
