I have used both yes. Right now I am using Diskeeper Pro 8.0
I used to use O&O Defrag, because a TechIMO member recommended it to me. After a while, I decided to try Diskeeper, and I kind of like both. I do think O&O is more for the power user, sicne it has many different modes of defragments, while Diskeeper only one. Diskeeper integrates far better in Windows, than O&O's does. Diskeeper also shows charts that for some can be useless, but for newbs its excellent. If I had to choose between both I would pick O&O as my choice. I would say you should try both and see which one you like the best. I did that, and I intend to buy O&O's software when my Diskeeper trial expires. Diskeeper is oK, but its too simple to spend the money on it. I am a power user, and O&O is the best tool for defragment a hard drive right now. I have also tried Perfect Disk, but I found it to be buggy, slow and too simple.

| Yes, dont remember where to find the feature in O&O right now, and since I am not using it in my computer I cant help you. But I am 99.9% sure it has the option to set custom automatic defrags.

You can always download their trial version (which has no difference from the paid version) and test it before buying their software. Maybe you dont like it, but after buying it it would be too late for regrets. I would recommend you to use their trial software until you are sure that its worth spending money on their product. IMO their product is excellent, that why I am going to buy O&O's defragmenter as soon as possible.

I've always just used the windows defrag utility. Do these other programs do something the windows one doesn't? Do they do a better job?

I've used both in your poll, plus Symantec's and the Win native utils... the one I've settled on over all these is Power Defrag by E-Technik ( http://www.e-technik.com)

I've used both and Norton Speed Disk. It's been awhile since I used O&O but at the moment I prefer Diskeeper out of the three because, afaik, it's the only one that has the handy "Screensaver Mode" where, once set, it will defrag in the background whenever the screensaver is on. Whenever I'm away from the computer for awhile or when I go to bed at night, all my partitions are defragged automatically without having to have the Windows Task Scheduler service running.

| Its always better to use the windows defrag utility than using nothing, but if you are a power user (most here are) you want more from a defragmenter. At least I do, and the one included in windows is too simple. This doesn't necessarily mean its bad, or doesn't work, its just not as powerful as Diskeeper, O&O's, and more. I think there's no easy way to set up the windows defragmenter to do automatically defragment jobs in the background, while your asleep, or just away. Also it only has one mode to defragment the hard drive, while many other have more than just one.
As for Symantec's defragmenter, well, I have tried it and I must say its so slow. Its painfully slow. Specially if the hard drive is heavily fragmented. I don't like it, but I have friends that love it. Its a matter of taste.

I have been using O&O Defrag since it earliest releases. I could care less concerning performance since I only defrag every few weeks, but O&O has always proven stable and reliable on my systems.
