Creating CD Image

I've wanted to make ISO images of some of my games so i can store the actual disks away and keep them safe. My program of choice is Alcohol 120%, and i had no problems using it but alas, the trial period is over and i dont have $50 handy to buy it. I decided to try a program called UltraISO to create an ISO image of my starcraft CD, but it ended up taking 3+ hours, with still over an hour remaining. Theres no way this could be right. I tried it again and the program stopped responding after it had been working for a while. what could cause this? I've tried reinstalling the software, and im running win98.

Ah yes, but the problem with these two programs is that neither of them allow me to mount an ISO image with a virtual drive..thats what im really looking for. I managed to get the image onto the hard drive. Does anyone know of a program other than alcohol that can do this?

Not sure about something to make the actual ISO itself but once you have the image you can use Daemon tools to mount any image (bin, iso) as a virtual drive.
