XP stuck in boot, help

I just pieced a machine together and it was doing just fine until the last program on and it goes through checks for boot from floppy, cd and then ide. It recognizes the IDE boot fine, then just hangs there with a blinking curser?

Specs;
K7S5A Pro (new)
Duron 1.0 (used)
256mb crucial PC133 (u)
52x32x52 Lite-on CD-RW (n)
ATI 16mb 3D Blaster Banshee (u)
30g Maxtor (n)
XP Pro upgrade w/ sp1a from 98se

I had everything working fine until I loaded EZCD Creator 5.0
Now, I have a stuck machine. Help!

yah go to www.stupidvideos.com and search for bad day at work, that is my advice :P, have u tried booting to safe mode and uninstalling?

When I try to go to safe mode (F8), it just gives me a choice of boot devices.

What am I missing trying to get to safe mode?

What do u mean it gives u choices? Can u list them?

Floppy - not found
CD-rom - not found
IDE-0 - ok
Network (blank)

Not sure if this will help, but you can try it.
Go in to bios and make sure that bios can detect your CDROM and HDD. You can try to set HDD to 1st boot piority followed by the CDROM. if it fails to boot up, try safe mode. If that fails, reformating would most likely be the best. Reset CDROM to 1st boot piority and pop in the CD.

Oh by the way, EZcreator 5/Roxio 5 has issues with XP. It causes XP to hang and things like that. You'll hv to DL a patch for roxio 5 for XP but I strongly suggest using Nero. It's way better with no competability issues.

yeah..well known issue....I think when I ran into it, it was making it reboot etc

but now the issue is...how to apply the patch since u cant boot

hmmm..maybe a fresh install but skip the roxio 5?

Problem solved. I ended up starting from scratch and installing Nero Xpress. Thanks for the input.

Just for some info, to get into safe mode on an ECS board, you need to wait till the XP logon screen comes up and then hit F8. Otherwise, if you hit F8 while the post screen is up, then your just gonna get a boot menu.
