Toshiba Satellite A35-S159 Sluggish?

Hi. I recently purchased a Toshiba Laptop with the following specs below:

P4 2.3Ghz
60Gb HD
512Mb PC2100 RAM
CD-RW/DVD
Windows XP installed
Spyhunter installed
Ad-Aware installed
Zone Alarm installed
Norton AV 2003 installed

My PC is virus free and spyware/adware free. Hardware seems great. Everything brand new condition.

The only problem is the sluggishness. I have about 45Gb left on the HD and the drive is NOT fragmented. Whenever I opened up applications or browse around my desktop, my performance is sluggish (hard drive reads for about 5 seconds before the window is opened). My CPU will work at %100 whenever I am running a scan with Spyhunter. I have tried all of the performance boosting options with Windows XP (setting performance to "best performance", start menu open speed to "0 ns",...etc.). No device drivers problems, IRQ problems, or I/O problems. Everything is DMA (especially HD). Everything seems fine. Nothing major running in the background to hog memory. I tried ending unessessary processes within task manager. Same slowness. Tried defragmenting and recovering memory. Pagfile is set at 1100mb. I also notice that whenever my PC bogs down bad, my pagfile usage will jump from 150Mb to 450Mb.

Any suggestions or programs welcome? I have tried some programs already (system mechanic, norton system works, PC stop.com, and a couple more). Maybe there is a benchmark utiltiy that I can use to compare my system to others?
