Outdoors SERIOUS INTERNET PROBLEM!

Oh no! My network is being stupid again! This time, one of the computers on my network will not see the cable modem that we are all connected too, instead It sees an old Dial-Up Connection we used to have. I have tried to recognize new a new modem, but it said that it was just a dial-up connected. So, I tried running Adaware 6 and nothing came up, same with SpyBot S&D. And I cant update anything because the internet is down on that one server. THOUGH, I believe it may be the work of something called SVCHOST.exe. I tried to delete it, and the computer went into this 1 minute shut down sequence. What do I do!?!? HELP!... Please.

From,
Mr. Kristoffer

you do not need to install drivers for your modem...you need the NIC drivers but most have them built into windows...but if you don't then you will need to find them...also try unplugging your cable modem from the wall power outlet for a minute and plug it back in

When you go to the new connection wizard you have to first select Connect to the Internet, then Set up my connection manually, then Connect using a broadband connection that is always on, or the option with user name and password if you have to enter that to connect.

quote "I have tried to recognize new a new modem, but it said that it was just a dial-up connected."

If I understand you're quote correctly. YOu need to Go to the bottom of the page where it says LAN (something like "use a local area network") to use a cable modem not dial up modem.
