CD-Rom not detecting CD

Windows XP Pro (legal)
Asus A-7V 266E MB
Liteonit 52x CD-ROM
Liteonit 32x CDRW

The culprit is the 52x CD-Rom, latest Firmware, drivers and Multimedia drivers. The problem just started and I have done nothing recently that could have changed any settings. (that I can think of) Uninstalled/reinstalled the drive, cables secure, CD reads in the CDRW, System is updated. Have tried several types of CD formats...data, games, ect Nothing shows up or auto starts.
I did do some data recovery on a corrupted CD and that was the last time I know the drive worked. The CD was corrupted by canceling a write session and I needed the info off of the CD. I used ISO buster 1.1. It worked but now the drive doesn't. ISOBuster is uninstalled.

Input appreciated.

yeah. pretty simple. if it wont read any cd's, you checked all the cables, and maybe got a chance to even try it in another machine and it STILL wont work at all, pull it out and do a cd burying ritual in the backyard.

for sh!ts and giggles you can try it in dos after booting from a win98 start up disk. at least its just a cdrom. dirt cheap so its no biggie.

Ya, that is kinda my deduction......just wanted another opinion. One of those things, working one sec and not another. It still has power and opens and all, adn when you cose it the light stays steady instead of blinking......

Thanx 4 the input.
