How do I get Win98 on Broadband?

Ok, I dont have the drivers or anything for the PCIMA network card. I just got the computer with only the operating system win98SE and keyboard and mouse. And since I have been using windows xp for how long I totally forgot how to do it. If someone could help, or kinda walk me through it, it would really help.

Thanks.

Most hardware manufacturers will have their own drivers, so why not search those sites for what you need. W98 Control Panel has an "Add Hardware..." agent.

Also, why did you not get a copy of the W98 installation CD when you bought the computer? You should have gotten the media, plus the product key.

Ok, so just like download from this computer, and transfer on a floppy or something?

And it was given to me. My moms bank was giving them away since they got all new 2.0 ghz machines. So I got the old PIII model. But I do have an old win98 disc from my old hp, so I could just use that.

It would really help to see a list of what hardware you've got, but -- yes -- basically just d/l to floppy, copy to a location on your "new" pc, and run the installation. Most of the times, these are executable files, so you just need to double-click to run.

Sometimes, they are zipped files, which you unzip to a location on your hard drive, then search for the *.INF file and right-click on that file... you should be given an option to install when you right-click.

If you find a driver and its not self installing, which a lot arent, just right click My Computer select properties and click the device manager tab.

Look for a yellow exclamation mark on the device w/o the driver. Highlight and click the properties button on the bottom of the window. In the window that pops up, click the driver tab then the update driver button. Go through the wizard.

Second window in wizard select the search radio button.

Third window fourth radio button down is " Specify a location". Check that and thats when you point it to your driver or .inf if its not self installing.

At that point windows should find and install your device

Really not to bad.

I doubt the driver will fit on a floppy....most drivers now are too big to fit on a floppy...floppies hold about 1.4megabytes

you might have to get to a machine with a cd burner.

you say you have a pcmcia card?

you mean a wireless card or what?
