Overclocking make it break?

I heard that overclocking the fsb would put additional strain on the processor but also on the pci slots and the other things like that. I had my processor overclocked but didnt think anything about putting more strain on the pci slots...Until recently.

My question is this; I have a wireless G pci card and it started acting funny, not wanting to connect and stuff like that, its working now but i did some things to my comp and they were
1. reset my bios to the stock fsb and multiplier
2. reinstalled the wireless drivers and reset the router

Could the upping of the fsb be what caused my card to act funny and not want to connect or do you think it was just something wrong with the drivers and stuff?

Thanks for your help

Sure, a lot of PCI devices have problems once the PCI bus speed gets up beyond around 38 to 40mHz (default speed is 33mHz). Some hardware handles the speed increase better than others. NICs and sound cards seem to be pretty sensitive.

If you want to test out this theory, just up your bus speed again and see if you NIC starts to misbehave again.

Or you could up the FSB and leave your CPU overclocked and (if you have this option on your MB) set your AGP/PCI as close to 66/33MHz as possible. I'm running my 2.4c @ 3.3GHz with my AGP/PCI @ 67/34 .
