You press the power button and nothing happens. Nothing in it makes any noise like its doing something, not even the psu. Its an older AT style mobo/case/psu etc. I dont have much praqctice with these, so I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas. (I dont know any specific specs unfortunately.)

I was afraid of that.... just wondering if anyone knew of something else that may be getting in the way.

I dont think so with an AT case...cuz the switch is hard wired etc..of course it could be the switch itself etc.

With atx there are all sorts of things...could be mobo, cpu etc etc...but AT's are hard wired with the hard on/off switch..as opposed to "softpower on".

If this is a system that you just recieved from someone else and you don't know any specifics, I would first assume that the psu is shot. Unfortunetly, if your like me, I wouldn't have any AT psu on hand to plug in and narrow down the problem. That would be your best bet. Find a handy AT psu and plug it in to narrow the problem out.

I was answering---> I was afraid of that.... just wondering if anyone knew of something else that may be getting in the way.

Do you hear the on/off switch on the front of the case 'click' when you press it in?... an AT switch is different from an ATX. The ATX is a momentary switch..like a door bell button, but an AT switch is hard on and hard off.. and usually you can hear the switch click off or click on.

The on/off switch itself on an AT is almost as likely to be bad as the power supply. I've had nearly as many switch failures as power supply failures on older machines.
