Both DRAM spot and contact prices are starting to edge upwards in trading. Standard DDR memory is up 5% on average today, while DDR SO-DIMM memory is up nearly 7% today!
Part of the issue may be a fallout from the resignation of Schumacher as CEO of Infineon.
Industry analysts predict up to a 19% jump for DDR modules next month. This estimate is on top of this month's 12%-17% increases across the board for popular size modules.
DDR prices are expected to steadily increase throughout the next several weeks.

also most manufacturers will stop using regualr DDR in favor of DDR2 when it comes out in hopefully a month or so...so much less DDR will be manufactured

Incorrect. Go back and read this month's analyst reports. DDR-II is being favored among graphics manufacturers, but not OEM system or motherboard manufacturers. Top-tier OEM's will likely not even adopt DDR-II until well into 2005.
In fact, AMD sees absolutely no reason to even adopt DDR-II as a motherboard memory standard at this time, even with its next-generation of n-way Opteron server configurations.
