applying artic silver

Actually, I've applied AS3 on my xp2500+ countless times when I was installing a new heatsink.
My friend is building an Athlon64 system and when I read the instructions in the artic silver website, I found out that applying the AS3 on an Athlon64 chip is different than applying on AthlonXP's.

From my understanding, you apply AS3 on the center of the chip straight from the syringe then jus mount the heatsink? Then the heatsink will spread the applied compound without any further action?

Thanks in advance

well ChrisPest I did a bit of searching, and found this post which shows how to apply thermal paste...but there's limited info on Techimo specifically regarding this topic.
here's some useful links for you:

AMD heatsink/fan how-to's: Your best source for AMD Athlon 64, barebones, DDR, Duron, motherboards, nForce2, nForce3, notebooks & Opteron information

SPECIFIC AMD Athlon 64 instructions

I hope this helps and that you'll report back your findings/experiences for all those who, like me, searched through the Techimo forums for the answer!

welcome to Techimo!
