Kids Hotmail & MSN the same???

Hey guys!

Just curious, is signing in to your Hotmail account the same as signing in to your MSN account?

For example, if I sign in to martoch@hotmail.com and set up an online profile, would it also be martoch@msn.com? If not, how would I get an msn e-mail extension? Sometimes people send me e-mails that have @msn.com while others have @hotmail.com. Just wondering, I can't seem to find the answer with a quick google search.

Thanks!
Mike

Hmm...I understand what you're saying, but the person that is sending me e-mails from an @msn.com e-mail address does not have MSN as an ISP. They use the same cable provider that I use, that's why I was curious as to how they have an @msn.com extension. I would ask them, but they're not responding to e-mails. Could it be that they use MSN as a web browser?

Mike:

If you have MSN as an ISP, you can go to hotmail.com and type in martoch@msn.com, but if you don't you'd just have a normal Hotmail account. The @MSN.com is reserved for MSN internet customers. So if you used, say, Comcast, the only one you'd be able to get would be martoch@hotmail.com.

Edit - Sorry I didn't even read your post. I'm not sure how he was able to get an MSN address, as I have four email accounts one of them being Hotmail, so I went to their homepage and when I went to Create Account, the only domain available was @hotmail.com.

Interesting.

I wonder the same thing as you do big bro. I have a friend who also has @msn.com as his e-mail, but as far as I know he doesnt use MSN as his ISP. Never really cared that much to know really, but I wondered, and I am still wondering. *Hum*

OK, the only thing I can think of is that he registered an @MSN email at some point in time where you could choose @MSN or @Hotmail for your email address. I believe you could do this before, now it looks like you need their ISP to do it.

my thoughts exactly AF. either they registered when you could chose, or they previously had MSN as an ISP

yes... I have an @msn.com account that i registered a few years back. It used to be that you could sign up for an @msn.com account just like a hotmail account.(and no i've never had them as my isp)
