In my oppinion, I HATE cel-shaded games.

Anyone else feel the same way about them? Some might be fun, but the cel-shading is just utterly horrible, I despise it, and wish it to that no decent game has to suffer that.

cel-shading is a great concept with lots of potential...you cant judge it just because the main game which everyone associates it with (XIII) wasn't exactly what they said it would be

perhaps being a bit more open minded would help

It's nifty, but I don't condone using it for more then a few games. We don't buy 9800 Pro's and 3Ghz P4's to play games that run on my mom's Duron.

thats why i have a gf4mx440 and a 1800+

i do like them as long as it suits the game (ie cel damage etc). graphics should add to the game. some games call for cel shaded, some call for ultra realistic... its all about the game

I'm very open minded, I just don't like it, I think it ruins games. For istance Sonic Shuffle and Zelda:W...both good games, but horrible graphics, I dislike the cartoonish bit to it. Like I said, it's an oppinion.

The thing is.... just because you don't like it doesn't make it a bad thing. "wish it to that no decent game has to suffer that" Sometimes it is exactly what a game needs to portray the feel that the designer wanted. Zelda was always intended to be cartoonish... so cel-shading technology was perfect for it.

Zelda wasn't intended to be cartoonish. The 2D games weren't cartoonish either, they were just made like that and used cartoons to show short bits. Have you ever played Ocarina of Time? or Majora's mask?? God damn, it's just an opinion, you guys don't have to make such a big deal about it. I should have never posted this thread.

hey... dude..... the creator (can't remeber his name) even said that he always intended it to be cartoonish. And yes, I have seen both of the N64 games. I can't remeber what was said about those.... I think he didn't have as large of a hand in their developement though. Can't remember.

I do however.... know what I am talking about when it comes to the Windwaker.

Also.... you are the only getting upset and defensive.... I was just pointing out that your comment hints at some closemindedness relating the fact that there is an appropriate use for it.

Ok, well I'm sorry. Cel-shading is fine for those who like it, I don't so okay. Not everyone likes everything.

I only played the demo of XIII. I thought it was pretty cool. I would buy if I find it cheap somewhere. I kinda liked the graphics. Its all a matter of opinion.
