Is 1.5gb of RAM overkill for xp?

I have 1gb of ram in my system now. I have another 512mb stick that I can put in, are there any applications that would make use of that much RAM? Also, I remember reading something about too much ram causing problems in XP. Are there any issues or tweaks that can be done in xp using that much ram? Thanks

You can never be too thin, or too rich... go ahead and use the ram if you've got it. XP does not have any issues with too much ram (W9x did, however, and ram in excess of 512mb caused some problems that required special settings to correct).

Regarding apps that use lots of ram... digital imaging comes to mind... compilers sometimes use lots of ram... some games...

No such thing as too much RAM. Most of my machines all have an even gig.

Yea, put it in. Then you can be 1337 and get rid of your swap file!
