I wont start again to tell what I think about people that want to overclock hardware that are powerful enough nowadays because I will just start criticizing people when its actually not my business. But I just think its so unecessary to start oveclocking something that is powerful enough, just for the sake of fun or to brag with benchmarks scores. Why cant you guys that do this just let it be,until its a bit old, and then start overclocking? I understand people that want to oveclock their Geforce 2 or AMD Athlon 2000+, but not when its regarding very new and powerful hardware.

Well, if you want to have fun you go to a funpark, or just do something thats fun. Do what you want, but a processor that expensive its not something to just play around with in my opinion. But of course, you may have alot of money to play with?

Geeez dan, the guy just wants to see how fare he can overclock it......but dont mind dan, he is just jealous.

From what i have heard, it seems like most people are maxing out around 200-300mhz range.

Also, Easytune 4, i believe that is for gigabyte motherboards, is it not? Anyway, i never had much sucess with that, i found that oc'ing through the bios worked better.

No, I'm not jelaous. Why should I be? What I want to know is why people want to overclock things that are poweful enough already.

So he spends a huge amount of money and then he plays around with it just to see how far he can get? OK, do so, not of my business to complain, I just want to understand why people do it.

Dan...
Why would you not try to tweak just a bit more out a processor? I know this changes the entire nature of this thread, but (I guess) it goes right to the heart of "Why Overclock?" For many of us, I guess the answer is because I can. Because, I can run a Slot-A Athlon 700 at 850mHz... because I can run a T-Bird 1200 at 1400mHz... I can run a T-Bred 2700+ @ 2340mHz... because I can run a Barton 2500+ at >2000mHz.... because I can run a Barton 3000+ @ 2340mHz.... because I can run a P-4 1.6gHz @ 2.134gHz... and have done so safely... for extended periods of time (many, many months... into years... and have sold such CPUs when I was done with them)
