I am trying to connect my computer to a tv so whatever shown on the monitor will be viewable on the tv. I am told that I need a pc-to-tv cable and some thing about the graphic card The problem is that I have no idea what this is about.

My computer is a HP pavilion 503n. The following link is Hp's site concerning the comp's specs
http://h20015.www2.hp.com/hub_search...cName=bph07765

I only made a few changes since I bought the comp 2 years ago. Personally, I dont think the changes have any effect. Nevertheless, I'll post them anyway. The changes include:
- an additional 512 mb pc3200 DRAM
- replaced the 40 GB hd with a 160 GB
- an additional 80 GB hd
- a dvd drive
- reinstallation of the drivers

Is it possible for me to do this? If not, is there anything I can do?

Yeah.... thats about it. Or one with a component video out... it your tv has that.... although, if its new, it should.... no guarantees, but it should.

Do you want sound through the TV as well? If so then you'll need an output from the sound card. You can convert your headphone jack to do this for about $13. Its the way we have one of ours done.... you buy a headphone to component splitter/adapter, a double female compnent adapter, and however long audio component cables you need. Not that hard.

Then you just get the appropriate cables.... tell some one you need at a computer store what your doing and what you have if you can't figure it out... most at least try to be helpful.

Dual Inline Coupler (double female adapter)http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...qp=0&oid=20201

RCA Stereo "y" Adapter (headphone to component) http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...qp=0&oid=13265 -- Note: if the TV or whatever is close enough, this would be all you need.

Audio Cable with RCA Plugs (component audio) http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...qp=0&oid=78114

It came out a little over $13 here though.... I think it's like, $15. It works though, even if the quality isn't the best, its not any worse than your stock computer speaker kind of deals either.

PNY Verto™ GeForce4 MX440 8X 64MB AGP Video Card (has a TV out not sure what cable type though) http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...qp=0&oid=72186

---
Make note that I am just showing things that will suit you that are most likely available locally almost verywhere.... this isnt a recommendation at all.

I would like to use this thread to expose my problem:

i have a new generation laptop (2.5 Ghz, 512 ram, etc)... the laptop does have a S-video output, and my TV does have a s-video input.

I connect the wtweo together with a s-video cable, and everything works fine.. I can see the computer screen on the tv an everything... but, as soon as I go to windows media player and start playing a movie, the Tv won't take it... it just shows a black square and no image from the movie.

I tried with the Divx player, tried with my regular dvd player (to see a dvd movie), and nothing, just a black square.

do these players use a different frequency than the regular active windows? I seriously don't know why it would show the computer screen but not show any movie player screens.

any help is appreciated.
