Ok, Im going to guess that /mnt/C: is your C: drive in windows. If it is, and you're using 2000 or XP, it's probably going to be a NTFS partition. If that's true, then you can't write to it in Linux anyway. Doesn't matter what the permissions are.

Hm... I'm unfamiliar with that distro.

In redhat/fedora, getting mplayer + divx + pretty much all windows codecs is as easy as downloading the packages at http://ftp.icm.edu.pl/pub/linux/mpla...s/mplayer.html then typing
rpm -ivh --nodeps mplayer-*

Do you have a website for pcqlinux2004?

Sam

EDIT: This answers that, and whether you can use those linked rpms:

From here:

...installing PCQLinux2004, which is a fedora core 1 based distro with some bleeding-edge features.
So those packages should work (and provide divx for more than just mplayer).

make use of the manual pages:

type:

$man (command-name) for more info on command syntax and options

or type:

$info (command-name) for more user friendly feedback

file permissions use "chmod"

change owner or group use "chown"

In KDE you can do these simply by right-click/Properties/Permissions
