Sony is bringing out the first eInk-based consumer product

in July -- an eBook reader called "LIBRIé". Runs on four AAA batteries; you can read about 10,000 pages before the batteries need to be replaced. Can store about 500 books.

Looks great for vacations.

Hmmmm........well, don't know how well that screen really works...........

...........in the blown up pic I can read SONY at the top, but the rest is just terrible......can't read a daggum thing........LOL!!!!!

Hasn't this been tried a dozen times before? Heck, my PDA has a book reader on it.

The bottom line is that a CRT or LCD just isn't as easy to read as plain old paper. Not to mention that they're 1000 times more expensive....

It's not an LCD or anything like it. It's about as white as paper, and can be read at any light-level a book can. And a pixel doesn't require power to maintain a state, only to change one, so battery drain is minimal. It's also very lightweight. Here's a link...
