Asus a7n8x Bios help please

Hi, Well I have two requests, first I would like to know how to update my Asus A7N8X Deluxe Bios. I downloaded (from the main asus website) the revision 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and the revision 2.0 bios but all that I have found in my zip is a file that ends with .BIN and I have no idea how to use this file to update bios. Which bios revision is the best for performance?

Also, Does anyone know of a definitive guide for BIOS tweaking on the Asus a7n8x Deluxe? And one more thing, could you guys give some opinions on what FSB and Multiplier settings to set a Amd 2500+ on this Asus A7N8X dlx board? Thanks for your time guys.

I imagine the easiest way is to use the asus update program that is on the disk that came with the board, or you could just put the .bin file on floppy, and then hit the F4 key, I think it is, on boot up to get into the bios flash utility. I am not positive on the F key but I know it tells you on the bottom of the post or logo screen on boot up which one it is. If you use the boot up one, make sure you know the exact name of the .bin file as you will have to enter it to get it to flash the bios with that bios file. The asus update program runs in Windows and finds the bios file for you on Asus' servers. If you use a bios image you downloaded in a zip file, make sure it is for the revision of the board you have as those bios' are made for 1.06 and earlier revisions and 2.0 and later revisions.

Sounds like good advice on the BIOS.... I wouldn't really know though.

Also... just so I can beat some of them to it.... you may or may not need to know a little more about your processor to really get help.... also helps if you can tell a little more about your board.... keeps people from having to hunt as much to help you out.

On the board between the pci slots next to where it says "A7N8X" there will be a thing that says "rev. 1.04" or whatever revision you have.............then refer to Asus bios files and download a bios appropriate for the revision number on the board...... I would recommend using the latest one as it should have the most bugs fixed....

I have previously used the Asus utility for flashing bios, it pretty much walks you through.

question why do you need to update the bios?

I have been using the same asus with my 2500+ without problems, at 166 MHZ.......

well my bios updater software had not been working, and my version was very old, about a year or so.
