GF4MX440+SOYO7VBA133U

I have a Soyo SY-7VBA133U motherboard

GeForce4 MX440 64MB vid card

Running Windows 98SE

I've updated all the motherboard drivers except the BIOS (don't feel confident enough to do it)

I have the newest Nvidia drivers (56.64)

The board supports 4X AGP, and so does the card, I've enabled 4X in BIOS settings.

When I go to set my display settings and performance settings, it's saying I'm only running at 2X...help?

Thats one fo the nicer socket 370 boards out there....in that it can support tualatin processors...such as the inexpensive tualatin celerons 1.4g etc.

Have you looked at the manual...is there anyway that there is a jumper for 4x? (even though it says 4x in the bios..could there be a jumper on the motherboard?)

other than that...you'll just have to look thru the faqs and manuals of the board and the video card I suppose.

Considering the real-world performance difference between 2x and 4x for a 64MB video card is less than 5% for most 3D games, why bother? Don't believe the AGP hype.

OK, that helps me when everything else fails...but unfortunately isn't a step forward, just the finish line.

It may not seem important to you, but I'm going to have to run Half-Life 2 on this 1GB P3 chip, which will be using the same engine as FarCry...so every possible gain I will need.
