Yes, please mention what, if any, error messages are coming up, etc. and some more specific symptoms.

Off the top of my head, I will guess a RAM issue (try replacing the sticks with something else), but that's just a shot in the dark to a less illuminated inquiry

I'm going to assume you need to format the hard drive, because that's the topic heading. Go to Maxtor's web site and download their "Maxstore" HD utility program. I also agree that some additional info would help.

Yeah, go thu you install procedure. Its basicly setting the bios to boot from the cd and inserting an xp installation disc. It will boot to a setup utility where you can format and partition you drives.

Well i need help again if seems that windows istalled to the D: drive and not the C: how can i fix that. I wanted windows on the 40gb not the 160gb HDD? Is do i disconect the D: drive and then run the install on the C: so that way it has to force it self on the C:?

Thanks

If the only thing you have done is install your operating system, then re format both drives and connect the master at the end of the cable and the slave in the middle.

No sense wasting time trying to sort it out, just do it over making sure the operating system goes on the correct drive.
