Mult Accts, Office 2000, and WinXP

I work in a store and with a kiosk and a Windows XP box on it. Enabled the Guest acct, so that customers can check e-mail, do word processing, browse the Web, etc. However, when Word or any other Office 2K app is launched, it displays an Offfice installation dialog that eventually requests the Office 2K disc. If one clicks Cancel immediately, the dialog goes away, and the program is displayed forthwith. Inserting the CD doesn't alieviate the problem either.

Is there means of telling this dumb program that anyone on the system can use the program w/o having to explicitly install it under their account ? BTW, the installation dialog is displayed for any user, including other administrative accounts. The sole exception is the account that originally installed Office 2000. Plenty of other programs explicitly or implicitly deal w/ this issue w/o hassle, but of course MSOFT has it's reasons....

TIA....Jet

maybe try to repair the install with the guest account.

This particular problem if needing to "install" for every user has always been a pet peave of mine that just drives me insane.
If I just need to logon to somebody elses machine for 2 minutes to check email I don't want to have to wait for Office to copy its gazillion files into my profile

Unfortunately, inserting the disk when prompted doesn't fix anything. Moreover, just installed XP Pro for a friend and I don't want to go each acct, to "fix" O2K w/ the CD.

Hopefullly, we'll both find the ans here.....Jet

Have done this three times and works almost perfectly. Install Office as Administrator. Period. While one will still initially get the little Office installer dialog for a few secs, all accts incl the Guest have a working and proper Office. No glitches.

HTH....Jet

PS: I'm still using Office 2K (for clients' sake) but I'd be willing to bet this lil discovery will work w/ later editions.
