help with bios settings

I just put together a system with a Biostar M7NCD Pro mobo, Athlon XP 2600 Barton core, 256mb pc 2700 ddr, 80gb WD hd, and a Phillips CDRW. Currently running Windows XP with Bios settings at... FSB 200, multiplier 12.5x. Why does Windows tell me I am running an Athlon XP 2000 at 1.4 ghz? And, how can I fix that? I want my system to post at stock speeds but I'm not getting even that. I made sure all my hardware supported 333 FSB, including the mobo which supports 400 FSB, but the max bus option on the board is 200 and the max multiplier is 16x. Am I missing something? Can someone help please?

I forgot to mention that I have a stock CPU fan and the BIOS setting for the memory speed is set to AUTO.

whatever the bios says for the fsb you double, so the max in the bios is 200, but that is really 400mhz fsb. for 333 you need to set it to 166.
166x12.5=2075 mhz
200x12.5=2500 mhz(that mean's your cpu is overclocked)

there also might be a jumper that needs to be set on the board itself to change the fsb . not sure i have never used that board

the default setting is 100fsb ( meaning 200fsb ) so you will have to set the bios fsb to 166 to be correct for the xp2600 and or a jumper if it has one

problem solved

Thanks for the replies. I fixed the problem by just letting the BIOS pick the best settings itself. Now I'm running at 2600+ speed of 1.9 ghz with the fsb set to 166.

With a little tinkering you should be able to raise your fsb, even at the cost of cpu speed, wich should boost performance.
