PS2 to USB game controller problems

I bought a PS2 to USB game controller so I could use my PS2 controller on my computer but it doesn't seem to work on any games, everytime I plug it in the game with either freeze or hang. Anyone know why or what I can do? Thanks for your help

Nick

Well... I had a normal computer controller that wouldn't work. I think you'll have to set it up so that Windows recognizes it and knows what buttons it has. Not sure if each version of windows is the same on setting it up though. Usually if you look in the Control Panel theres a icon for game controllers.

Also... are you starting the game then plugging it in?

On most of the games I've tired I've started it both ways. I've had it plugged in before I started the game and I've plugged it in after the game was running. I know about the control panel thing but it doesn't seem to do anything for configuration or settings. Thanks for your help too.

I have one, and it works fine. Windows XP just recongnizes it as a normal controller. Try buying a different type adapter. Maybe off ebay? ?(thats where I got mine). Works like a charm.

What operating System and what brand PS2 to USB adapter is it? Before using the controller to play games, you should be prompted for drivers for the adapter and controller or it should at least be recognized.

I'm running win XP, I don't remember what brand it was but it's a clear blue one from fry's electronics. Not sure if that helps, I thought it would prompt for the drivers too but it doesn't. When I go to the game controller in the control panel and in the device manager everything seems to be in order. I turned off force feed back or the vibration as well.

Are you running XP Home or Pro? There are quite a few clear blue adapters, but the one listed at http://www.buynshop.com/productinfophp3/VG-PS-USB2X doesn't seem to support XP Home. Other blue ones might be made from Mayflash, like Super Joybox 2 , Super Joybox 3, and Super Joybox Dual. KiKY adapter from Soyo are also blue adapters.

I'm running Xp home... that sucks... the adaptor is none of those but I could take a pic of it and post it here if that helps? I couldn't find the package insert or cd that I thought it came with and there's no label on the adaptor itself. Kiky sounds familar though??

KiKY does sound familiar, and looking at Soyo's website, they sell them at Fry's Electronics. Unfortunately it appears that that particular adapter has some issues with XP. There is a nice little discussion about that adapter at http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/inde...rum&f=6&d=7874.
