ok well i basically illiterate when it comes to computers... i know next to nothing so i seek help. I have an emachine with windows XP. I was having alot of problems with ym computer so i let my friend fiddle around with it and he deleted my Video and sound cards (or something like that) i have no sound and no my computer is stuck on the 640 X 480 setteing and none of my games work now.... i try to reinstall in under add new harware but when i try, well the video card for instance, it says Video controller (VGA compatible) witha big yellow "?". i try to re-install it but it says i need a CD or floppy disk for the software... but i have no such CD or floppy... i was wondering if there is a place i can download what i need.

i have the T1840, but i got to thinkin and i went ot the emachine web site nd looked around and got what i needed... i reinstalled the sound and video card thigns... and my sound is working perfectly but i still can't change my settings off of 640 X 480

ok i went to add new harware and SM Bus Controller came up with a big yellow "?" and the Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller came up with an icon with a yellow "!". And the Universal Serial Bus controller i re-installed but the SM Bus Controller will not... Does the SM Bus Controller have any effect on ym display settings?

is there still a question mark in the device manager beside the video card? is it still listed as "vga controller"? If so, the driver isnt installed right or it isnt the right driver....

no it is not listed as VGA controller and does not have a questionmark by it anymore
