after installing a slave drive the bios detects it ok as 20GB which it is but windows 2000 prof sp2 says it is only 1.99GB ie 10% of the rite size what is the problem here ..the primary master is a identical 20GB maxtor same as the slave ......

has this drive been partitioned before?
check it with fdisk from a rescue console (boot from your windows cd and follow the directions to a rescue console) select fixed disk 2 and view partition information.

That's where your "missing" 7 percent are.

Check your jumpering, you might have it on 2GB clip.
