Food Geforce4 Ti4200

Hello all, Have just done a repair of XP pro sp1. I'm having a problem with the graphics display. I installed the nvida drivers from the CD last and it appeared to install. But when I try to click on the Nvidia desktop management icon, nothing happens. Also, in Settings, the display comes up as 'default monitor' (instead of GeForce), and only 16 colors are available from the drop down box.
It doesn't look like it installed at all, and I only have 16 colors available. I have installed the latest drivers loads and deleted the old ones, But as far as my system is concerned there is no Geforce4 ti4200 card installed and the CD that came with the Graphics card only wants to let me download the dvd player any one know of a problem like it, Cheers for any help

As my Monitor is connected to the graphics card and I can see this page, tells me something is working but know where near as it was.........

Send a message via Yahoo to sweeper2
goto add/remove programs and remove all the display drivers
reboot and let windows install drivers. Then put in cd for video card and install as directed. then restart again. then goto the nvida site and install latest drivers. should work then.

as far as the default monitor, if you goto display, goto settings, then see what colors you have and change your display setting to 800x600 or higher (what ever you use) and change your colors, should at least have 16bit or 32 bit color.

your adaptor should read your video card, not under monitor, go under monitor to see what it reads, should be your monitor or default, as long as it works.

but like I said , try doing a clean reinstall of everything after deleting all your old drivers

Hello I hope this is ok to pm you..... I have just removed nvidia from add remove and rebooted and nothing happens windows does not recognise this card, So im thinking now that when I did a repair installation yesterday that maybe some files on the xp pro disk did not load. So would I be right in saying that I should do another install, it might fix this problem, as for colours I have the setting on 32bit and 1024x768 which is the normal settings I have, Thanks again

I also just read in Tony's BSOD column (off the main page) that some people are having problems with lag while using the new drivers to this card, so check out that column, he has posted a link to some older drivers which are supposed to be more stable.
