blue screen "hardware fault" installing windows 2000

hi, i really need some help with this problem fast, when im installing windows 2000 and it's on the last stage of installing (the part where it says the screen may flicker for a while). just after it flickers and comes back again, it has a blue screen saying

hardware fault
please contact vendor

does anyone know how i can fix this or get past it, or just whats wrong

I would try installing 2K with out any unnesessary hardware connected...i.e., just a video card installed...no modems, NICs, sound cards etc. etc. just the basics. Then..if that works, you can begin adding back in your extra hardware.
