Really I can't connect to some web sites

I've been browsing this forum and have actually seen around 3 people asking why they can't connect to some web sites and none have replyed to them. I got my problem a few days ago and i have no idead what the problem is i tried asking help from my teacher and friends and they were all just confused. The sites i have trouble are www.gotwoot.net and www.expectnothing.com

It's not my computer for i have tried it on my LAN computer and it pops out the "can't find homepage" error message. I'm suspecting if it's my connection or whatever it is. It can't be the firewall because i have it disabled i'm using ADSL btw if that is important. Replys would be thanks even if you don't know the soultion.

Welcome to TechIMO!!

I can go to them.

Have you run AdAware and SpyBot ?

Get the latest updates.

I have updated ad aware and scan my computer once a week. Spybot is kinda weird i just don't like the lay-out of the program. BTW it's like 3:45 a.m here and caffine isn't holding me awake much longer i'll go to sleep after i finish reading some tutorials.

You do know that your ISP can and will block certain IP addresses?...

A couple of years ago, a website I went to almost daily...relocated to a different server/IP.

Once I was able to obtain the new URL.. I could not access the site. I then was able to gain the webmasters email address ...and he responded that probably my ISP had his IP blocked out... Once I got thru to the ISP's server tech..they corrected the problem.

If this is what is going on with you, you will need to go deeper than the normal ISP's help tech's.

if you have adsl and you're part of the bellsouth network, then you run through a proxy server..
you see, it is cheaper to have you surf to pages they have saved on their servers, you are not actualy 'connected' to the full internet. Web pages have to be added to the server for you to beabel to connect to them. This seems to be your case.
Call your isp and demand a real explaination.. DO NOT take it is a DNS issue.. tell them you know about the proxy..
good luck

//edit, and to add what the above poster said, if you are part of bellsouth, then tell them to call the DSG to fix your issue..

i sent this email to my isp (i suck at speaking norweigan)

There is a website called www.gotwoot.net which is acessable by other internet ISP's but not Telenor. I have done some research on the internet and found out that either you have blocked that website ip or because i am going through a proxy and that you are letting us the customers surfing on your server with websites saved on your database. I do not have the "full" acess to the internet. I demand an explanation or either you "add" that website adress to your database so that i can surf on that site. I know it is a cheap way for you to let the customers to surf on sites saved on your database but this is getting out of hand. Please reply as soon as possible.

^^ hope this works

Have you tried pinging those sites and tracert-ing them?
If that works, I'm not sure what the problem might be, but it it doesn't, the IPs are probably blocked somewhere along the line.
I'm sure you know how to perform a ping operation, but in case some viewers don't:
In Windows, open the MS-DOS prompt (I like using Start>Run>"Command"), and type "PING *ip address or web address here*". Some sites block incoming pings, but some allow them.
To do a Tracert, just open the command prompt and type "TRACERT *IP or web address here*".
Let us know if either/both of those work for those sites.

Well i pinged a normal site and got the normal results but when i pinged www.gotwoot.net it said "Request timed out"

i did tracert www.gotwoot.net and recieved something like this:

One or more CON code pages invalid for given keyboard code
Microsoft(R) Windows DOS
(C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1990-2001.

C:\DOCUME~1\MINDLESS>tracert www.gotwoot.net

Tracing route to gotwoot.net [69.56.211.107]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 54 ms 59 ms 91 ms ti300720a080-l1.ti.telenor.net [83.108.160.0]
2 3145 ms 3183 ms 2453 ms ti300722c050-ge2-0.ti.telenor.net [146.172.208.3
7]
3 2945 ms 2792 ms 2853 ms ti300002c050-pos4-2.ti.telenor.net [146.172.252.

And it goes on...

And i have no idea what this means...
But looks cool tho

BTW should i make new posts or should i just keep editing it looks like as if i'm spamming this thread...
