Systems Geforce 4 440mx probs

Hey guys,

before we start i know my grpahics card sucks and looking to up grade when i have some more $$...

ok problem is..

i play a game like AA and it will just freeze for like 5-30secs then start moving again... i have formatted/installed new drivers/switched between directx 8.1 and 9 (orignally thought the problem)

i have screenie if u want to see it



so yeah that is the problem.... any ideas... i have tried lowering the settings and rising them and this and them... i tried omega drivers aswell... nothin seems to work..

other system specs include

ram: 512meg
cpu: 2200 amd athlon
mobo: some asus one.

it never used to do this!!... like i have played aa for 2 years on this machine and it never did it!!

is this online gaming? You sure it isn't lagging? Also, how hot is your system running, do you have case fans etc and have you checked to see if it is dusty inside or your fans are dirty etc. and or your card is getting to hot. If your cpu is getting hot, it might do that. Just some things to check.

cheers i will... i mean i do... yeah it is online gaming but that is my isp servers and i have broadband... and yeah doesn't net lagg that much

no it actaully happened after the first time i installed directx9 and loaded nfs:UG on it... i htought it was software so i formatted.... did no good

you still using DX 9, your video card my not be compatible with DX9

Doesn't matter. You can have an old Trident with DX9 and it should still work.

Are you sure you are not overclocking the card?
Maybe it is getting too hot.
Try running the games with your tower case open and a normal house fan blowing straight on it.
If it solves your problem, then you know it is a heat issue.
If it doesn't try underclocking the card and see if that helps.

Also, does that happens with every game?
Or just with AA?

I thought that some of the older cards don't support DX9 only DX 8? My mistake if that's so.
