Welcome to TechIMO

definitley build it if you have the time/patience

its a little confusing i guess at first but after your first one its really easy

for requirements it depends what your using your computer for, but either way i would spend big buxx on your first build....just in case

Welcome to the forum!

Most everyone here builds their own comps.

The main question is....what are you going to use it for?

If its for ultra high end gaming then thats one thing...but for just a basic machine you can use basic stuff.

For a basic build I like Biostar motherboards..they are easy to work with...not a lot of overclocking options..but not a lot of complex bios settings either. I like the M7VIZ for basic builds http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...138-231&depa=0

www.newegg.com is a great supplier.

A lot of people recommend the barton 2500 for basic builds.

----

So a lot of it depends on what you are going to use the machine for

Some decent advice is to not scrimp on power supply and RAM..because those are 2 areas that can drive you crazy trying to track down problems....bad ram and weak power supplies can both give lots of random errors/shutdowns etc.

Wait till a better time tomorrow when more people are online and post back stating what you want to use the machine for...then you'll get more/better answers

Kids

well i plan on having something having ulitmate speed....adn for that what do i need..? For speed is it all about what kind of motherboard + processor (in that case, which one would be best for speed and reliability), maximizing my gb with a huge hard drive and memory? Also ..which is better: Having one hard drive with a lot of space or two seperate ones with decent amount of space?...

well then you will definitley want quality products.....so will it be for like a server?

also if you can put out a price range that would help a little bit too

as for thaT, i think it would be faster to have 2 decent hard drives in a raid 0 array than one big one, but im not positive

unless you are going to buy it in a store, i wouldnt buy from compusa, newegg is much cheaper and it has free shipping

i dont know much about p4 stuff ( i am an AMD guy) but 800 mhz bus and 512 cache is good, as well as the hyper-threading

make sure you get pc3200 RAM to run at the same speed as the processor
