a 2 pc network using a dsl modem and router

We have a network set up, which works fine for surfing the web etc, but when it comes to trying to setup a multiplayer game with a another friend, it dont work, or if both me and my roomate try to get on the same game like for instance in the Zone.... my ip is 192.***.*.* which is prob what the Linksys 4 port router assigned me. umm, my roomie set up the network and thinks he done it right.. Which I knwo he didnt... How would we go about changing it to where we both will be assigned different ips. All I got to say is that it sucks...lol...

Send a message via AIM to teengeek88 Send a message via Yahoo to teengeek88
if its two computers on the same router then you have to go into the router configuation software via a webbrowser and you can permanently assign an ip address to ur MAC address

i think linksys has that thing where u chat online with a tech support person?, that should help if you cant figure it out form ur documentation

find out what ports the games you want to play run on and forward those ports to the computer playing the game and you shouldnt have any problems. do you have the latest firmware installed too?

Welcome to TechIMO!!

As a point of information your IP "192 - whatever" is not something to be considered "top secret."

You and literally millions of others using routers probably have the same IP address.

that "top secret" ip is 192.168.1.1

i think you want to change the DMZ Host IP to 192.168.1.111

i know that i can get into WarCraft w/o any problems.
