Most quality splitters have a loss of 3dB, radio shack and best buy sell different ones . I do not see how mounting the splitter close to the tv will effect the signal quality.

i dont think it makes ANY difference... ive never noticed any signal degrade from the cable tv or signal strength from my modem...

I was just referring to how "clean" it would look if the splitters were outside versus inside. Every connection does effect signal loss.

if you are going to split cable connections also get a signal amplifier. we have 3 tv's and I connected one for the grandkids in the basement. the more connections the weaker the singnal.

everything availible at Radio Shack

^^ i second the amp they are about 45$ .. also, make sure you use rj6 cable from the amp, do not use a regular 'patch cable' taht you would use for a vcr/tv connect..
good luck
