GeForce2 GTS
How does the GeForce2 GTS stand up to lets say a FX5200 or a Radeon 8500 LE? I need a video card for a friend on a budget and I found a GF2 GTS for 30 bux, is it worth it?
Thanks for your help.

Doubt it, it's pretty old. I guess it will run older games just fine, but newer are different story.
I think you can get REAL radeon8500 for 30bucks also, at least I can get one for 40€ (but we all know prices are higher in finland)

I would think the GF2 stood up to the 8500 LE, especially because it's an LE card, but the 5200, even though it is a poor budget card, has directx 9 support. You checked out the clock and memory mhz? And the pixel fill rate / how many pipelines the card has.

I have a Geforce2 Ultra and it is about the same as a Geforce4 MX. The GTS was a lesser model than the Ultra.

Yeah, I was looking on there this morning and found this on at newegg. http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...82E16814102325
Any input would be appreciated, I don't know much about video cards, I don't do the gaming thing so I'm not really familiar with what a card needs to be able to do.

Well, if gaming is no consideration, than just try to get the cheapest thing possible.

For 30 bucks, I'd say the GTS is the best in that price-range.
